US DOL / Safal Partners
WorkforceGPS is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration (ETA) to connect federal grantees, workforce professionals, educators, and business leaders to useful materials and enable compliance with federal requirements. The platform serves 22k+ users and features resources that support a pathway to the nearly $623M+ in grants and funding assistance the DOL provides.
Challenge
To understand and transform the outdated WorkforceGPS platform into a modern, UX improved, and feature-rich platform that is competitive by modern standards.
Align the compliance and accessibility standards of the USWD system with the expectations of users and to enable an experience that's both accessible, digestible, and impactful across a wide range of technical fluency and user types; from general users, to administrators, and community managers.
Provide a pathway to pivot from the current legacy era tool, to an MVP
Establish and design a template and handoff for an external development and product team to build off, and iterate upon previously identified future features and enhancements,
Navigate the logistical and management challenge for both the design, research, planning, oversight, and testing processes.
Accomidating occasionally complex business logic, expectations, and standards, and technical feasibility challenges.
Balancing expectations and providing clear leadership and roadmaps to deliver for user and stakeholder needs and interest.
Negotiate numerous factors and inputs, while designing and providing a roadmap for an accessible and compliant government website that would also perform and present fantastically.
